As the Spring Festival approaches, the lobby on the second floor of International Ceramics Studio at Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute is marked with a show of calligraphy.
Party Secretary Mei Shican of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute wrote spring festival scrolls for international students, not only carrying best wishes, but also combining the ancient art of calligraphy and couplets.
A student from the ROK said: “We also celebrate Spring Festival back in my hometown, except for the tradition of scrolls and lanterns.” The Spring Festival here has more cultural elements, which is very different. He is a doctoral candidate majoring in Ceramic Design at Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute. He didn’t go back home for family reunion due to ravaging Covid-19. To put study first, he decided to stay in Jingdezhen to experience the traditions of Chinese Spring Festival.
A student from Italy said that this is the second time that she has celebrated Spring Festival in Jingdezhen. “The Spring Festival in China is very interesting, from putting up scrolls, eating dumplings, to paying New Year’s call and giving gift money, each carrying unique and interesting meanings. ”
“Epidemic prevention and control is very effective in China. Our daily lives have not been affected.” Said a postgraduate student from Egypt majoring in cultural relics and museum. He said that it is quite safe to study in Jingdezhen and he has celebrated Spring Festival three times here. ?
