The “Global Cloud Sacrifice to Confucius” Livestream 2021 was held in Confucius’ hometown Shandong on September 28. More than 60 Confucius temples, institutions of Confucianism and Confucius schools from home and abroad participated in the event. CHINAKONGZI teamed up with nearly 30 livestream platforms of domestic renowned media outlets and new media platforms of Confucius temples to livestream the event synchronously.

The “Global Sacrifice to Confucius” Livestream this year combined “Jinan Studio + Qufu and Quzhou Divisions + Livestream Sites” for the first time, providing an all-round, whole-process and panoramic display of the ceremonies at all divisions and livestream sites.

Confucius is an important representative of Chinese culture and Confucianism is an essential part of Chinese traditional culture. Yan Binggang, Deputy Director of the Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies, Shandong University, and Liu Xubing, Deputy Director of the Chinese Confucius Research Institute, were invited to the main studio to review the history of the Sacrifice to Confucius, allowing the audience to feel the weight of Chinese culture while watching the ceremonies with different characteristics in different places.

Over five years of development since initiated by the China Confucius Foundation in 2016, the “Global Sacrifice to Confucius” has grown into an important cultural brand in China and even on a global scale. This year, CHINAKONGZI worked with nearly 30 livestream platforms of ten media outlets including youth.cn, zhibo.ifeng.com, china.com.cn and utvhk.com, as well as the new media platforms of Confucius temples to synchronously livestream the grand ceremony.

In addition, a suite of activities were launched in this “Global Sacrifice to Confucius” to encourage public participation in the sacrifice to the sage. These activities include collection of micro-videos themed “Confucius in My Mind”, the topic challenge with short videos themed “Palm Hold Fist”, and “Count Me in the Cloud Sacrifice to Confucius”.

The “Global Cloud Sacrifice to Confucius” Livestream 2021 was sponsored by the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies, the China Confucius Foundation and the Publicity Department of the Jining Municipal Committee of the CPC, organized by CHINAKONGZI and Jining Cultural Inheritance and Development Center and co-organized by the Confucius Temple Protection Association of China.
