Located in Jianshui County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, Jianshui Confucius Temple was built in the 22nd year of Zhiyuan in the Yuan Dynasty (1285 AD). It is the third temple in Yunnan Province after two temples built in Zhongqing (now Kunming) and Dali. It occupied 76,000 square meters after the expansion in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Being built in the pattern of the Qufu Confucius Temple, it is a group of large-scale buildings surrounded by dense ancient cypresses, which is solemn and majestic. It has a good reputation of “the most glorious and majestic building in Yunnan”.
