The one-month “exhibition of works byShanxi’s painting and calligraphy masters in the Jinci Museum”opened on October 27 at Taiyuan, Shanxi Province.

30 pieces(sets) of workswere selectedfor this exhibition,including representative works of numerous literati, officials and merchants, such as Fushan and Yang Eryou from Taiyuan, QiJunzao from Shouyang, YangDu from Xiangning , ZhaoTieshan from Taigu, ChangZanchun from Yuci, etc.,to demonstrate the evolution of calligraphy and painting artin Shanxi province, to interpret the hidden socio-economic and cultural environmentbehind the works, as well as to promote the relatedhistorical and cultural study.

By intensively displaying theworksof Shanxi painting and calligraphy masters, the exhibition visually presents how calligraphy and painting art has had an infiltratinginfluence on Shanxi society from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties to modern times, bringing the treasures in the museum, the heritages on the ground and the letters on the book to life.
