The virtual digital exhibition project "Reading the People, the City andthe World", jointly launched by the Family Genealogy Hall of Shanghai Museum and the Key Laboratory of Literary and Art Creation in the Virtual Environment, opened on a trial basison October 15th in the East Library of Shanghai. When readers wear lightweight head display devices and come to specific exhibits, the past and present, virtual and reality, instantly converge in front of them.

It is reported that the project team, by exploringthe collectedresources of the Shanghai Library, told stories around threethemes withnearly 600 images, rendered high-definition holographic images through modeling and image processing, and overlaid digital images based onthe real world. The holographic imagesare displayed in theplacement areaand get interactive mode with the audience upon activiation.

The concept of "Readingthe People, the City, and the World" was intended to be conveyed to the world by the east wing of Shanghai Musuem when it was opened. This exhibition presents a more open and interactive digital space. In the future, "Shanghai’s Cultural Chronicle" and other virtual exhibitionwill also be showcased in the AR world.
