On October 21, the 2023 Hengshui·Dong Zhongshu and Confucianism Academic Seminar with the theme of “The Modern Significance of Dong Zhongshu’s Inheritance and Developmentof Confucianism”was opened in Hengshui, Hebei Province.

More than 100 experts and scholars at home and abroad conducted discussions and exchanges on topics such as “Dong Zhongshu’s historical status and contribution in the development of Confucianism”, “the contemporary value and significance of Dong Zhongshu and his ConfucianThoughts”, “the modern transformation of Dong Zhongshu’s ConfucianThoughtsand the cultural construction ofHengshui”and“the modern reference of Dong Zhongshu’s ConfucianThoughts”, and the seminar achieved fruitful results.

This seminar made it widelyrecognized that “Confucianism started from Confucius and came from Dong Zhongshu; Hengshui is the hometown of this great Confucianthinkerand the land of revival of Confucianism”by all sectors of society, effectively promoted the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional culture by Confucianism such as Dong Zhongshu's thoughts, and further highlighted the long and profoundhistory of Hengshui.
